When I first noticed the noise at 1000 miles, dealer said it was a normal 24 valve noise

The mechanic is someone I have known for years, so with a grain of salt I accepted the answer. To satisfy my mind even more, he and I drove another HO on the lot and it did it also. I have since test drove two others that didn't. So next week its back to the dealer and see what happens. I also have a connection at a Cummins dealer close by and I'll see what they have to say.
One thing that really hurts is that I went to Vegas recently and brought back a wad of their cash that is sufficient in size for some major bombing, but don't want to start until I get this noise thing fixed
