As discussed in this thread, https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=104091&highlight=Visionclear, I tried the Visionclear product on my EV guage faces to see if it cut down on the glare.

I have 2 guages in a pillar mount. On one guage face I sprayed the product very lightly(1. ), and on the other I sprayed the product a little heavier(2. ).

1. The face became slightly frosty in appearance, not much affect on glare issue, if any, and in certain light you can see spots, like dust on a wet piece of glass. The light transmission is slighty down.

2. The face became noticably frosty in appearance, and not much affect on glare issue. The light transmission is noticably affected.

At night you can see the difference on this one as the lighting has a matte appearance, and the light is dimmer than the other guage.

On both you can see the guages at night OK, but there is no longer a crisp appearance. Product says to wait 14 days to try to clean with water but after 5 days the product is soft and if you rub it with your finger nail you see a noticable scratch in the coating. Product literature says to remove with razor blade after drying, so think I will be doing that . Lots of masking to make sure the spray stays were it is intended and for the price does not appear to be worth it. Product is for TV screens so maybe it works for that, but at this point I do not want to scrape an entire TV screen!!!

Anyway the search continues. Rman any luck on the product for aircraft guage?

JPope I ordered the visionclear the same day you did and just sprayed my 36" TV the other day. I have mixed feelings and regrettably feel the way you do. While it's not too bad on the TV it does work. I can watch TV during the day in my family room (massive windows with massive daylight). The glare is cutdown and the screen is easier to see.

HOWEVER, this product is not for hifi folks, it makes things look fuzzy especially any writing. Luckily most TV is just visual things and little reading is involved. If I ever have to watch a sbtitled movie I'm screwed, it gives me a headache. I think I understand what people with glasses suffer from now!

I think the gauge idea for this product would be a bad thing, JPope has confirmed my beliefs.

It works well for one thing, but at the sacrifice of another so draw your conclusions as you see fit. I do not recommend this for gauges, and from JPope's response I don't think he does either.

I'm still searching for a "real" alternative. I have found one, but the cost does not justify the means. I could have glass cut for the gauges were talking the price of the gauges for them.

The saga continues, I'll let you know if I strike gold (after I hide all the gold first! ha!)
