funny info about new LLY duramax

There has been a RUMOR around for a little while that dodge is working on their own diesel motor (not a cummins but is being helped by cummins) and those are the approximate numbers.

It'll be interesting to see IF they do it and IF they do which trannies will they drop in. I know the 48RE probably won;t take it and I doubt the NV5600 would either. Of course if they do indeed build a 1 1/4 and a 1 1/2 ton truck... . they'd need new trannies anyways... so there will most liekly be some changes coming about... . again this is all speculation and heresay.

All numbers below are approximate:

lets see, 215hp, 245hp, 305hp, 325hp, and next in line is 600hp? I agree with Prarie Dog:

Dang, my B. S. meter just pegged again.

By the way, I know I missed some of the hp ratings. Anyone care to list them all?

heck for that matter the proto,I seen, was seen by all at the detroit auto show a couple years ago. I must add,I do not think you will see it go market, much like the motorcycle(tomahawk) just to generate interest.

What is 780-5 ft-lbs of torque? Are you saying 780 - 785 ft-lbs or

7,805 ft-lbs (with a 12" thick solid drive shaft and axles from a Cat 980 payloader)?

Man, that would be a big Dodge ... would have to be a 16 liter engine.

If so ... I'll be waiting for one ... to hell with the miles per gallon. :D

i really thought that this was a professional website for pickups and engines and related info/or whatever.

i now see otherwise

oh yeah, i'm not a woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this whole thread. If someone is saying our little B series engine is going to 600 H. P. next year or ever then this isnt believable. If someone is suggesting that Cummins is building an engine capable of these numbers then I believe it. The only part thats got to be wrong is the Torque. Only 785 ft lbs with 600 ponies? The math doesn't add up.

Peak torque 785 ft lb at 4014 rpm gives hp = 600. Next rumor: Dodge and Ford are trading engines. The 2005 Dodge will have a Navistar made of unobtanium with a cantgettium crankshaft to give this power level and rpm. Ford will buy Cummins and use their engines in their F series, with Ford programming instead of the Cummins ecm.

I have some fine ocean front property for sale in northeastern Nevada.
