Some guys may remember my post a while back about me dragging my friends '95, and the spanking I gave him. The times have changed- for him at least as now he has a '01 automatic. The other night while we were going home we lined up at a somewhat busy light that was clear ahead for a couple hundred yards. I knew what was gonna happen, but I love to race and my car has been on the back burner for 2 years. The light goes green and I was spooled and I left on him by a tad. Believe it or not we stayed even through 1st gear, but as soon as those extra valves made themselves known, it was all over! I cant believe how good that engine runs. But someday he's gonna need a cam sensor or something and the 'ol '92 will have to give him a ride to the Cummins store.

I didn't really drag race one but... well... we'll just say I had my 24 valve buddy try to keep up the other day #ad

I'm pretty worthless in a drag race with the ol' Getrag, but I'll take on 2001 6 speeds, Powerstrokes, and big block gassers when it comes to pulling a load over the mountain any old time! #ad

There's nothing better than coming up behind one of these guys with the 5er in tow and strike up a conversation on the CB about their beautiful new pickup and usually slightly smaller travel trailer. I just let them go on and on about their truck and politely agree about how great the new ones are as we wind along some two lane highway.

Until we come to a three or four mile 6% grade with a passing lane!! Then it's all over in a hurry.

God I love it! It's almost better than a drag race.

Someday I'll probably get spanked by a new pickup with a hot rod computer, but until then, I'll keep spankin' 'em.

Hey Don, I see your pump has been done. What is your no load high engine speed? and under full throttle, what RPM do you/it shift? what boost do you see? I would love to take the plunge and give mine the works, but I have too many other things going on. Right now the Cummins reliability is keeping me alive and moving and I can't ask for more.

HEY Don - you have the advantage if you are actually TALKING to the guys before/while showing them your tailgate!

SO, what do they SAY after you hand them and their new truck their rearend? All *I* get from the ones I pass, are the unbelieving STARES out the side window as I go by pulling our 5th wheel... Sure would LIKE to hear what they have to say (I think... ) #ad

The PS guys are the most fun, they don't think ANYTHING can drive past them on a hill... HEH HEH HEH... .

I'll admit, I usually have a hard time not laughing out loud when I answer them after they asked me "What the he** did you do to that ol' beast!".
Really, the new Dodge drivers are immediately interested in how they can make their truck pull like mine, and we usually have some good chatter after my little demonstration. It's amazing how many of these guys don't know about any of the things that are available to make their Cummins run like it should.

The Powerstroke drivers seldom ever want to continue the conversation, and the gassers often try to impress me by passing at a high rate of speed on flat ground later.

Honestly, as much as I truly enjoy sacking these guys on a good hill, I always try to do it in a tastefull matter if we've been visiting beforehand, and most of the time we're all still friends later.

The PSD guys are SO convinced that nothing's gonna outpull them #ad

I'd love to see thier faces when a square Dodge walks off and leaves them behind #ad
That's even more humiliating... HEHEHEH

I raced the boss last night, in his PSD. It started when we both turned on to the highway, I was behind him and I seen him take off so I nailed the go pedal, I did'nt have enough horses to pass him but he never gained on me either. After about a mile of this, his driveway was coming up so I backed out of it, assuming he was going to turn in, well, he kept on going about 2 more miles and turned around at the next wide spot in the road. As I pulled up beside him and proceded to tell him that I backed out of the throttle and why, he said , yea right. So I said, do you want to run them? He said confidently, ok, so I turned around and we lined them up, he stuck his arm out the window and flaged, when his hand went down we took off I jumped him about 5 to 6 trucks lengths off of the line along with 20 foot of dually rubber on the ground, both sides, anyway I held that distance on him all the way. I pulled in his drive way and he pulled up beside me and said this thing don't start running till about 50 mph, YEA RIGHT. I was laughing all the way home.

Mike over at Auto Wurks Diesel has a 93 W250 which is his daily driver. It runs 16. 7's in the 1/4 on street tires and can embarass many BOMBed 94+ trucks. #ad
: Driving it is a little different than my 97, however. I had to get used to planting the pedal to get the same effect of just touching into mine. #ad
Sure smokes a whole lot more too... ... . due to lower pressure injection pump compared to the P7100
