I was driving down the road today and saw a nice place to pull over to make a phone call. Hit the brakes pretty hard and heard a sharp clunk in the right front. Looked around under truck and could not find anything so I got back on road. Terrible pull to the right. I drove it to the place that did my alignment over a year ago (and did a good job I might add). The right front upper control arm shifted about 1/2 inch. I can see it clearly now from under the hood. They are going to fix it as soon as I can leave it. I can see this happening if I had hit a curb or something, but not just a sharp stop. Am I wrong?

I am overdue (56,000 miles) for a set of tires anyway so a few miles out of alignment wont kill me. I hope.

Thanks.

David

I have had this happen back when my wife's 2wd Ram was mine. I could hit the brakes hard and it would make an awful sound on the right front. I never had any handling problems afterwards though and sometimes I could trounce on the brakes and it wouldn't do it. I will have to take a good gander at it when I'm changing the oil in it this weekend.
