just curious... i am lookin at a truck that is a 98 24valve club cab?? i search this trucks ALOT and i have never heard of this... the only thing i am thinking is that the guy has the 24 and 12 valve parts mixed up. . anyone else have any input?

if i remembr right, in 99 the clubcab was dropped. a few clubcab 98. 5 24v's were made but the quad was way more popular. the quad was a 800 to 900 dollar option over the club

Yeup, 98 could get you a 12v, 24v, Club, Quad, Shortie. Or any combination. I've found a few 12v Quads, but they had shorties. I've seen more than one 24v Club.

so tell me my good man... . did you know what you had when u bought it or find this site and figured out that you had the holy grail of trucks?? be honest now;)

Holy grail

Midwestdually,

I have a 98 12v. 3500 4x4 quad also. Why is it the "holy grail of trucks. Is there somthing special about it that I am missing?

I was thinking about getting rid of it.

I've got one also- bought it intentionally to get the 12 valve engine & Quad doors. :)

The 12v has the P7100 mechanically controlled injection pump. The is the BOMB'ers pump of choice. Combine that with the easy access Quad, and you've got a truck that's a little more desirable on the used market. If it's a manual--ooh DROOL. ;)

Actually 99 was the last year of the Club Cab. They dropped it in the 2000 year and everything was quad cab after that.

I did not know what I had my main concern was quad cab, manual gearbox and long bed. And let me tell you the five speed thing is hard to find in FL. And usually sell cheaper in my area. Just wish I had looked harder for a 3. 55 geared truck.

Hehe, Midwest. I went and looked at the truck. I was doing my walk around and noticed Quad doors. My old man's Dodge didn't have them and it was a zoo trying to get in and out of the back, especially with my kids. Looked at the salesman and said, "Let's deal". I DID NOT know what kind of a find I had, though.

I actually consider myself lucky as the truck sat on the lot for two weeks. I'm thinking nobody bought the thing due to it's steering. The thing wandered all over and shook like heck. Changed out the trac bar and was good to go.

I have a '98 12v and knew about it being the "holy grail" before buying it. I ended up paying too much for it in the condition it was in but it was close by and had the options I wanted and had not been BOMBed so I went for it.

I had a 98, 2500 slt quad cab sport, 4x4, 5 speed, 3:54... 12V with about every option except leather. even had the cd/tape/ am/fm combo, 4. 5 in sky jacker class II lift.

well, at first I actually had 2 of them , one red and one blue. Had ordered the red one, then changed my mind to the new intense blue. This is a very rare combo, i believe. When I first ordered the truck I ordered the red one, then wanted the blue. So instead of ordering another truck the dealer tried to do a search of the entire east coast and couldn't find one , so they ordered me a blue one. The second truck was very close to not being a 12v, was on hold for a little bit, then got lucky and ended up with probably the last shippment of 12v made. I got it dec 23rd. NICE christmas gift to myself.

Sorry to say I traded it in on my new ride. The new hpcr engine is more like a 12v as far as power delivery to me as compared to the 2nd gen 24v. That is the only reason I got one! besides the great brakes and steering!

I didn't really care for the 24v and how it drove, maybe because I only drove/rode in one about 2 times. But, seemed like you had to keep the rpm's up for it to go.

I MISS MY OLD TRUCK... ... ... . but I like the new one also!

I have one and I have to confess that I did not know what I had until I spent some time at this site. I wanted the Quad Cab, manual, long box, 2wd and had to look long and hard to find one. The fact that it was a 98 12v didn't become significant until later. Now I don't think I can ever get rid of this truck.
