Had a truck in with a bad pump and the fuel was a blue green color. Customer said he purchased it in Pleasanton. I did a Google search and could not find anything about colored fuel except the red off road. Is marine or biodiesel tinted?

All of the diesel I have purchased in the last few years has been blue/green. That is its natural color I assume. Not sure what they do to it in San Fran :-laf

The ULSD will be clear when it comes out next year nationwide or at least it is now what we are using at work now. The #2 diesel for the public here in North Texas is yellow color with a blue/greenish tint if you drain some into a clear bottle, but looks blue/green tint when filling up to the top of the filler neck.

I've noticed it at times also, sometimes bluish/green, other times yellowish shade to the stuff. Depends where I buy it.

Have you thought about running bio? I am getting B100 for $2. 82/gal in Ft Worth B20 is $3. 03. DFWbiodiesel.com

the fuel we have in our 1M gallon tank at work is blue. in the past, blue fuel was high sulfer fuel, but now it is just a color.

i've seen many different colors of fuel [green, yellow, orange [my last tank of b20 was this???] blue, red, purple [we get this often at work when our blue fuel hits 1/4 tank of red fuel] black [#2 that has been mixed with bunker oil or waste lube oil]]

Diesel fuel color

Regarding your diesel fuel color. Walmart (Murphy Oill) is selling

Pink diesel fuel lately due to having to obtain the fuel from another

source. This is in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

Normally the fuel at Walley World is a light yellow, green and leaves

your truck with a clean filter at change time. I'm getting good mileage out

of this heavy pink fuel, I just hope it's clean. (Hwy & city 21. 2), not

usually that good.

When did you fill up last? This past Sat it was $3. 05 for B50 and $3. 15 for B100. They dont carry B20 anymore.

Have you ever gone to Envirosol on N. Commerce?

SHobbs I would like to try the bio, but to my knowledge around my location (McKinney) it is not available. I guess the closest would be Fort Worth or possibly Dallas. #2 diesel is going for $3. 499 where I usually buy fuel, so getting the bio cheaper plus added protection for the injector pump would seem to be a plus.

May be pink from being blended with fuel that had red dye in it.

I get the bio from DFWbiodiesel, kinda funny Envirosol referred me to them. Last week I got B100 for $2. 82, B20 was $3. 03. The guy that operates the place told me that the price for B100 may fall about . 40 cents this week or next. I think he said the actual price on B100 was $2. 90. The week before he was being jerked around by my employer Union Pacific about a tank car delivery and I made a few phone calls and got the car he was waiting on so he sold it to me for $2. 82.

Check out DFWbiodiesel.com they are located off of I35 and Long Ave. The B20 is a pay at the pump type of deal and the B100 is not tied into the system yet. If you want B100 call Bobby Camp 817-875-5147 to see if he will be there to fill your tank. They are usually there everyday so it's no biggie to call ahead, hopefully soon it will be a pay at the pump.

Years ago when I lived in Southern Calif, I bought my diesel at the local Texaco. They sold diesel that was a blue/green color. Never gave it much thought. ;)

sag2: At one point not too long ago, Kalifornia diesel fuel was blue tint..... same color as 100LL Avgas. Not only did we look at the fuel(100LL) when sampling, but it was very wise to smell it, too.

Clear Diesel Fuel

Last year, while travelling through Guymon, OK, I stopped at the local Loves & filled up both tanks with diesel. As I started pumping, I noticed that the fuel was clear, in color, rather than the usual greenish/yellow tint. I stopped filling, smelled the fuel & it did not have the usual strong odor. I stopped fueling, went into the store and asked the girl behind the register about the fuel. She said that they never have any problems with their diesel. I, also, noticed a lot of trucks using the stuff, so I continued filling.

The fuel worked fine. Had no problems with it.

Thanks, TonyT, for the explanation that it is actually ULSD. I thought that it might be ULSD but, had no real way of knowing, for sure.
