Excuse my newbie like question, but I wondered if it's normal to blow a helluva lot of black smoke everytime the go pedal is floored? I don't mind it at all, but just wanted to make sure this was normal. TIA.

I have a 2006 w/12,000 miles on it. Unless I am loaded up a bit from creeping along in commute traffic, I get very little if any noticable smoke when I have "floored it". But even if loaded, not a whole lot of it. Bone stock truck, except for bypass filter.

Based on your sig I would say that's strange if it is ALOT of black smoke. A little is normal, but it's usually grey if you're stock. Put a box/downloader on it, and it's expected. Sounds like some unburned fuel.

If it is strange, then we both are doing it... mine smokes like a freight train with no performance mods... and the load doesn't matter... it might actually be my fuel additive or the fuel though...

What elevation are you at?? It always smokes more when I'm in the mountains (above 5k feet) than near sea level...

I live in the mountains at 7K ft elevation. When I first got my truck, had smoke. After the P0191 flash, no black smoke. Then white smoke started, got flashed, back to black smoke. Unloaded or loaded. So, if somewhere in all the flashes they do a timing change of some kind, black smoke must indicate better timing? I noticed an increase of black smoke when I added PS(winter gel) to my normal mix with MMO, but not so much to have concerns. I blow smoke pretty good when I do heavy accelleration.

Guess I can expect an increase when I put on the Quad Zilla STD the kids got me for xmas, eh?
