i just got my 315 bfg's installed yesterday and am running them on the stock aluminum wheels. i was wondering what psi you guys are running the tires at on stock wheels?? loaded and unloaded??

the reason i ask is because i know its a little narrow of a rim and dont want to wear the center of the tire out. thanks for all the help in advance everyone!!

I run 35 in the back and 41 in the front... That is the psi where I can see the whole tire is wearing instead of just the center portion... when I'm towing I will put 50 in the front and 52. 5 in the back.

what kind of tires do you all have in the 315 size and how are they lasting?

Well my first set of BFG 315's lasted about 25k... My problem was I in that time a got two new chips and I could keep my foot out of it. I laid down a lot of rubber. Did a lot of towing as well. I hope this set will last a little longer :D

For those of you running stock aluminum rims, did you all see the TSB for ones that break? I haven't seen it mentioned on TDR yet, though it probably is. Replacement is covered under warranty.

I have been running 50# in my BFG's (315's) since I got them 25k ago. Have 5 tires and rotate them at 7,500 miles. They are wearing real square. I looked at a tire web site and it said 8" rims were OK for 315's.

Had 285's on my 97 with 6. 5" rims. Had to run 45# in front and 35# in the rear (empty) to keep them square. In south Texas they still ran cool during the summer at 70mph. Good luck with yours.

How do 315s fit on stock 4x4 2500

How well do 315s fit on the stock 17" rims? The BFG site recommends 8. 5" rims minimum. Do you get any rubbing when turning or off road?

I used to run 42 in the front for the even wear. Someone said something in an earlier thread on the subject about the heavier motor, stopping, kinetic energy, and downward pressure on the tire. I agree. 50 in the front and 45 in the back all the time now. Safety and stability over a little extra tire wear everytime in my book. Running BFG's. No rubbing, on or off-road before the T-Rex, none after.

well im right around what you guys are running! 40 in the rear and 45 in the front. the ride is soo increadibly smooth it was well worth the money. i need to get new pics though. well i knew the guys at the tire shop so i went in and made sure nothing was rubbing. the only thing it barely touches is the oem mud flaps at full lock. which is an easy fix. they look really good on the stock rims and theres no rubbing, so in my book thats awsome. well i could tell a little drop in low end power but ill just turn the powerpup up to make up for it! i cant say as to mpg because i have no way to recalibrate the speedo yet. anyone have any ideas with the powerpup???

I run 45lbs front and 40lbs rear, no lower ever again and higher with a real load. Just a warning a while back when I had an oil change the "Service Personnel" lowered the tire pressure to 32lbs all the way around. I had just softened the Rancho 9000 to setting 4 because of carrying my parents around. This combination caused the left front tire to start bouncing so bad on a freeway curve at 70mph, it bounced the truck frontend half a lane over. Bent both Stabilizer Bar Link Rods and scared the s**t out of me.

With the proper tire pressure it never happened before or since.

I expect to get 45-50K out of my BFG 315s. I have them on the stock alloy 17x8 rims. I have run BFG All-Terrain T/As on all my trucks for the last 15-20 years and have always gotten good mileage out of them. Of course it will very depending on the truck, 4x4, loads and off road usage.

How much of a reduction in MPG are you guys seeing? Any issues with the pc on the truck with the 48RE?? thanks, Doc
14-15 in the city... 18-18. 5 on the highway. Only 4000 mikes on the truck though. You will lose a little braking too.

My BFG 315's are getting pretty close to worn out and have 45k on them. I don't think I'll make it to 50k, they'd be racing slicks by then. But I love em. I think I'm running 45 front and 40 rear.

MarcCooley: When I got my 315's Goodrich was recomending 8" + rims.

They may have changed their mind about rim size.

The tires rub the frame when the wheel is turned all the way. NO PROBLEM - you just hear a little rubbing noise. Don't know about fuel economy - only had the originals on for 25 miles. Getting 17. 5 - 18 tank after tank. 20+ on trips.
