I was thinking about comparisons across the dodge family of trucks and had a question. What year truck with what transmission is the easiest to bomb?
Specifically, if I want 380-410 HP to the ground, which truck will get me there the easiest and cheapest? And, what will it take to get XX year truck to this HP rating? If we get enough information, someone with a new (to them) truck of any year can see what needs to be done to get a pretty serious HP truck. Is 380+ hp even possible with some of the 1st generation trucks? What are the model differences? I know that there are some differences within the 12 valve pumps, the 24V has the HO and non-HO and etc.
So, if you would like - list the year, transmission, and mods required to meet this requirement of 380-410. (and of course HP. ) Please too, if you have proven dyno numbers report them. Also, living at 7200+ feet, I am interested in what elevation you are running at.
Since I don’t know that much about 1st gen trucks and just barely more about 12 valves and 3rd gens, I suspect it would be something like this:
1998. 5-2000 (non-HO 24 V) with 5 speed
clutch (approx price)
injectors (approx price)
fueling box (approx price)
turbo, air filter, exhaust, etc (prices)
approx or dyno HP at your altitude
Sum investment
I suspect that a 24 V 5 or 6 speed would be the lowest investment to attain this HP range. Regardless, I think it would be neat to see what everyone has done and we would have a nice comparison thread so that someone could see that a particular configuration is available, approximate investment, and approximate HP.
I hope this isn’t a repeated topic, if so, please point me in the right direction. Thanks!
