I for one have 135,000 on my 2007 6. 7 and would take it anywhere. Any CEL I have had are minor. Any Warranty issues were handled promptly, politely and expertly by the dealership. Only down side if you want to call it that is the oil change interval is 3500 miles due to the excessive soot contamination of the oil. I have no complaints and would do it all over again. I plan on running it for at least 1,000,000 at the current rate.

Pretty much same here with CEL's, after the last reflash the P242 was back within a week. I can clear it but it comes back in a few days. My oil changes haven't been quiet that frequent in the first 20,000, they have been averaging just over 5,000 miles each. Just some nuisance items with the truck but nothing I would consider serious, I would still do it again.

My 6. 7 has a little under 8,000 miles on it and I have not seen a CEL... ... at least not yet.

I changed the oil and filter at 5,000 because I was leaving home pulling my 5er and didn't want to have the computer tell me I needed an oil change at an inconvenient time.

I did not reset the oil change monitor because I wanted to see how often the ECM would call for an oil change. At almost 8k I have not seen an oil change required message.

BTW, what does an "oil change required" message look like? Does it remain on until reset once it is displayed?

I've seen '80% full' 2 times in 15K, 2 reflashes and 2 CEL's. No worries here.

Oil sampling at each oil change and the decision is to run 6,000 on it this time, the 5,000 intreval stated every thing was good, no fuel and additive life was still good.

The 'Oil Change Required' will display on the EVIC after a single chime each time you turn on the key until its reset. After a bit the EVIC will display what you had it set on. You will also hear the same chime if the CEL is on.

TKeeler,

Thanks for the info. That's what I expected. I'm surprised that my truck, with 7950 miles showing, has still not called for an oil change. As I reported earlier I changed the oil at 5k miles but didn't reset the oil change monitor because I wanted to see what the computer wants my oil service interval to be.

I frequently allow the engine to run when I'm out of the truck but I always activate the cruise control before I exit the cab. The CC feature bumps idle speed up to 800 or 850 rpm. Maybe that is helping to keep oil contamination down in the opinion of the ECM.
