No variable geometry (VG) turbos here. That truck is a '95. E7-350.
The biggest Mack engine I have used is a ('99 and '00) E7 355-380 MaxiCruise, nothing special there.
The newer engines are a lot quieter than the older ones. They have a different fuel injection system than the older ones. Looks like it is HPCR instead of an in-line pump. At idle, some sound like a gasser with a stuck lifter (just a ticking noise).
