I am experiencing more than usual smoke (black) even whilke running in stock mode and no load in tow. I recall very little if any smoke in the past even while living at 4500 ft elevation. Right now I am at 6500 ft elevation, could that have anything to do with it? I have been running the truck hard for the past 2K miles/2 weeks.

Injectors?

Don't know if this is helpful but my '99 didn't smoke much at all when running around in Omaha NE at about 1500 MSL but on my trips to Denver at 5 to 6K in elevation it would smoke like a freight train at times. Never had a problem with it.

Your smoking trk

I to had noticed a a little smoke when in Rocky Mountain Nat. Park (CO). in june and again 2 weeks ago in Banff BC im from CA. But only when I stood on it with trailer in tow.

A dirty air filter will cause more black smoke, so at higher altitudes it seems reasonable that you would get more smoke also. Might try cleaning/replacing air filter.

Hey Gary! I never heard this before. Mine smokes more now when I throttle hard than it did a year ago. The filter-minder is midway in it's range, not far from where it was when I replaced the filter. FYI, the filter is a Mopar filter from the dealer and my truck is 100% stock. Even though the filter gauge reads okay, you think this might be the cause of the extra smoke? I'll be honest, it'd be nice if I had 500hp w/zero smoke. Smoke is cool at the dragstrip, but not on the street. It's a dead giveaway as to what you're up to. :-laf
