I'm picking up my new (to me) 07 5. 9 2500 next week and want to swap out the factory airbox and exhaust sometime in the near future.

I've heard good things about the S+B cold air intake/elbow combo. Any other suggestions?

And I had a Magnaflow 4" SS exhaust on the old 5. 9l. Should I go Magna again? Or something else? Not looking for volume. Just want good flow in and out.

the stock box is the best, just add a psm kit and a wix 49946 filter. i like the fbd turbo back 5" straight pipe kit with a donaldson m090072 resonator and a m090535 or m101181 muffler#ad

I would keep the stock airbox and 4" filter and do the 10 dollar Home Depot modification. Great flow in with a filter designed and approved for your engine. I have the MBRP 4" cat back with 2 of their mufflers and it is very free flow but drones while towing at highway speeds. Most don't have this problem. Seems that Mega Cabs are more prone to drone than other cab types.

Wertles, what is the $10 HDepot mod all about? Basically the DIY version of the PSM kit?
The FBD exhaust (w/ Donaldson res and muff) seems reasonably priced. Whatever I get, I'm looking forward to doing the installation myself.

I fabricated a big rig muffler to fit in place of the aftermarket muffler on my otherwise stock exhaust. I just went to out local truck shop and got a 4" muffler, about 30" long, and about 10" outside diameter. You can drop an orange straight through the muffler, but there are no "louvers" like most mufflers. There are 3 expansion chambers, though and this muffler is QUIET. I think it was about $70. My cat is still on the truck. The muffler that was on the truck when I bought it was one of those "louvered" types, about 15" long, 7" diameter and loud and droned horribly while towing our camper. Droney enough that my daughter was getting nauseous in the back seat from the sound!!

I would compare the sound to stock, and I believe it even had a flow rating around 3000cfm. Don't know what stock muffler is.
