I just cut out my muffler of the stock exhaust system and my MPG dropped about 2 MPG. Why would just cutting out the muffler drop the MPG that much?

Todd

I still have my resonator. Also, How would I increase the MPG to get back up to what I was?

klenger is probably right. Unfortunately its time for winter fuel again. :{ It has less BTU's per part so it takes more burn= less fuel economy. I can tell a difference this past week or so, truck is a little louder and down on power, not to mention I am burning a little more fuel. Seems like going back thru my records during the winter I average about 1-2 miles less per gallon.

I agree with winter fuel thoughts too. However, in my case after I did my 1st exhaust mod (ditching the muffler), I was also mashing the go pedal more to hear the new exhaust sound:)

I got a small improvement in mileage with the 5" (. 5mpg. ) and much better spool up. Only "problem" is that it doesn't smoke anymore because of it.
