Would like to purchase 05. Can anyone tell me if the transmission hardware and ecm are capable to the revised software. Any and all info would be appreciated as usual. What a great forum.
Dodge doesn't suggest an exhaust brake on the 05 Auto..... However we offer a kit that deals with it... . and so do other vendors...
The kit holds the transmission oil pressure up when you take your foot off the throttle and allows the pressure to return to idle mode conditions when the engine drops below a preset rpm... 1500 as I remember... .
From what I have heard, the '05 48RE has the hardware upgrades like the '06 and the electronics is capable of handling the software but DC has not made any software available to upgrade the '05's. Whether or not they will has not been answered yet.
I'm pretty sure I saw a reference that said 04. 5 and 05 did not have enough memory in the ECM to hold the new (larger) program. And an ECM swap would be too cost prohibitive.
I have a new 05 and the guy at the pats counter quoted me for my 48RE auto for a E-brake. I know that doesn't really count for much as they are probably trying to make a sale.
