Could anyone explain the best way to have the interior unit of an exhaust brake installed or mounted? From reading posts here It seems as though some techs at dealers really make a mess with wiring and location of mounting position. Have not had any experience with exhaust brakes but plan an install at the dealership when I take delivery on my 06. Opinions and suggestions greatly appreciated.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Manual or auto trans? On the stick they just mount it on the shifter and it is pretty handy and looks like it belongs there. On the auto they also mount it on the shifter but it is pretty ugly mounted there IMO. On my auto I cut a good portion of the mounting clamp off and mounted it through the plastic panel behind the steering wheel. I have a pic at home I could post next week (out of town). I took the lower dash panel off and drilled a hole to allow the knob to stick up through with the "box' section hidden behind the panel once re-installed. Now I just have a knob sticking up behind the steering wheel on the left side. Works great, looks much better.

My Pac Brake switch is mounted on the shifter. I like it there because I can easily switch it on and off without taking my hand off the knob.

The Jake Brake switches I've seen mounted on the auto column shifter look **awful** to me (I'm sure I just insulted someone - sorry!). I'd find a place to dash mount the switch if possible.

My 2 penny's worth.

You might ask the dealer to install the PacBrake and more user friendly shifter mounted switch..... If you have an interest in doing it your self... I can offer you great pricing...
