Looking into an exhaust brake for a winter project. Going to go with either a Jacobs or a Pac. I have a complete GB transmission with triple disk converter. What other changes will I need to make for the e-brake? Exhaust valve springs and a lockup controller is all that comes to mind. Anything I'm overlooking?

Consider changing both intake and exhaust springs. Not much of a cost increase or more work since cylinders are TDC anyway. Gives you a 'balanced' valve train and a 4k gsk won't be an issue. The locker is mandatory, without one the EB is useless. Most of the 'smart lockers' also include a vac control to increase trans pressure while locked.

Once you have an EB you will never want to be without one, mine is on all the time and saves service brakes.

From what I have been able to determine, the "smart controllers" are designed for the 47RE transmisssions. The 94 and 95 trucks have the 47RH. You can manually control overdrive and TC lockup with switches but you have to get real creative to come up with anything that will do it automatically.

According to ATS's website, their controller well work on all trannies (1990-2003). But at $400+ I'll keep my mystery switch and do it manually. DTT's controller is for 1996 and up.
