I am planning on switching my exhaust brake from one truck to another and want to know about the ECM pin connection. Can I remove the existing pins, or should I cut them off and get new pins? Where would I get the pins?

Also, I am thinking of getting the shifter switch from Geno's. I am sick of people saying "so you got a two speed axle". Does anyone have this switch? Is it hard to install? Does it work well?

Thanks in advance

Bryan

Pins are removeable if you have the correct tool. You may have to see a dodge or cummins dealer to get them out. Cummins can also sell you new pins.

I don't know about the switch.

We carry the new pins in stock... they have a short pig tail of wire about 6 inches long on them... . I'll bet $5 that the dealer doesn't have a tool to pull these pins...

I'm sitting here at home so can't tell you much more about the part number or price. . give us a call 800. 445. 4696...

If you have an 04 not an 04. 5 and up the housing is not the same... . the 03 and 04 have the same housing... so you might check to make sure it will fit...

Hope this helps... .

I swapped my Pac-Brake from my 05 to the 06 and I was able to save the pins.

I'm certain that there was more luck than skill involved in getting those pins out though! :-laf

Thanks Jim for Pac-Brake, it's still working perfectly! Oo.

Looking back throught the TDR archives from when I installed my clutch switch

cummins part number 3164263 $12. 00 is a 4" wire with the correct pin on it.

Why run it through the ecm? It delays the brake activation for 3 seconds..... just get it on a throttle switch. What year truck are you putting the brake on? The 04. 5 up have different exhaust elbows & require a adapter to bolt up.

The computer gods have decided that a 1 - 2 second delay to allow the fuel pressure to drop in the fuel rail is important for operation before the engine drops to idle and the exhaust brakes come on..... We suggest that if possible with a direct mount brake... that you allow the ecm to turn on the brake..... they wouldn't do it if it didn't need it...

Plus you can leave the brake on and most of the time upshift or downshift without it coming on... .

Jim

Any of the brakes can be connected for fully manual operation. Just connect the ECM wire to battery power instead of the ECM. I wouldn't want to do it, but you certainly can.

Keep the ECM connection. Driving a manual trans w/o the 3 second delay causes the brake to go on-off between shifts and creates needless wear on the EBrake.
