Have a buddy wanting an e brake for his 97 dodge 3500 dually with a 5 speed who makes them, and where is the cheapest place to get one? Thanks very much.

I have a Pacbrake on my truck. I bought it over the internet, not sure anymore what company. I would just do a search for Dodge exhaust brakes and do some research. I don't think it really matters what brand, but I've never had any major problems with mine in the 6+ years I've owned it. Your friend will probably have to have heavier valve springs with the brake; I'm not sure as to the technical reasons. Maybe someone will post that knows more than me.

I run a BD brand brake, which works well for me. The reason for the heavier exhaust valve springs is to keep the valves from blowing open when the e-brake pressures up the manifold. The BD and probably others can be adjusted so the heavier springs are not needed but then you don't get much retarding power so it's almost pointless to install this way. I don't remember where I got this one. I ordered and installed it for my cousin six years or so ago and then later bought it from him.

I don't know of any real good prices, one just has to shop. But on the Pacbrake web site they also have the Jacobs brake there and parts for both. you've got the info on the springs.
