Bought a 2006 with Auto transmission. Trying to deside which Exhaust brake to purchase. Either a Pacbrake or BD Diesel.

Input appreciated.

You can find out most of the information you need from their web sights... if you'd like personal experience I've several trucks running the pacbrake and offer it to TDR members. .

I'm biased of course that why I suggest the web sights... if you'd like to chat I'd be happy to email you my 800 number and answer questions...

I'm sure that the other guys here will be happy to personally help as well...

Having previously owned and appreciated an '06 Ram with 48RE and exhaust brake I would advise you to buy either the MOPAR Jacob or the PACBRAKE exhaust brake and plug it in iaw instructions so that it works through the ECM. If you do that the brake, the engine, and the automatic transmission will be fully integrated to work with each other and provide a great system.

I have the Pacbrake PRXB on my '07. Mine is a standard trans but if I had an Automatic, I would run the same brake. Had it on over a year now with ZERO problems and ALOT of praise for how well it works! My $0. 02

I have a Jake on mine. Could be the best "mod" I've got. Works great, and I'm pulling and descending mountains all the time. Bruce

I have owned and installed many Pac brakes with all positive experiences. Compressed air operation is far better than the vacuum of yesteryear.

the pac and bd are equal in performance and many times better than the jacobs. i have a preference of the bd over the pac because of where the compressor mounts on the bd. over the life of the truck you will have a lot less problems with the bd compressor also it is out of the way
