Searched a lot of threads but haven't found an answer to my problem yet.

My truck, 07. 5 6. 7 with all the deletes, 5 in. TBE, and running Smarty S67ME software. 66,000 miles and trouble free since the deletes. Good mileage. No codes stored.

Exhaust brake is intermittent. For the last week, it will work when engine is cold and warming up, but quits working when engine warms up to operating temps.

Also, the exhaust note becomes very deep and has a "fart can" type of sound, but performance seems to be normal.

I have cleaned the tube and sensor that monitor exhaust manifold pressure, but no improvement.

My turbo is an early one and doesn’t have the cleaning port.

I suspect that the nozzle has a habit of sticking in the open (non-braking) position, but not sure. I have checked all the fuses that might be related to the systems controlling the turbo, ECM, etc.

Any ideas on my problem?

Do you have a boost gauge and if so what is it showing? If not does the pickup feel like it is surging going down the road at highway speed? When my turbo was on its way out it would go from say 10 psi of boost to 0 psi just cruising and back and forth.

Don't have a boost gauge, but haven't noticed the surging. Sometimes I can hear the exhaust note change when it's sitting idling.

When you turn the key to the on position can you hear the nozzle trying to reset. Sounds kinda like an electric motor. Mine would cycle and cycle and not reset.
