I know this may be a stupid question, but how is an exhast brake on our trucks and a "jake brake" on big rigs differ? I dont even know how big rig e-brake works, can someone enlighten me?
An exhaust brake works on the very hi-tech principle of pluging up the exhaust. Kind of like stuffing a potatoe in the tail pipe.
The "Jake" brake works with the exhaust valves to delay their opening. Completely different deal. From what I'm told a jake brake that will work on a B5. 9 would not even fit under the hood if one was available.
