Is the exhaust brake standard on all trucks, including the C&C models that are equiped with the new 6. 7 motor... or is it an option that must be ordered?

I just ordered a new 5500... and I searched for the exhaust brake option on the spec sheet when we ordered the truck... . a month ago it was listed as an option but wasn't priced... when I placed the order with pricing we didn't find it... I drove away thinking I had ordered what I wanted and later the same day called the salesmen on his cell and left a message that I wanted the exhaust brake on the order...

On the TV tonight was an add for Dodge with the statement they are the only truck in this class with an exhaust brake... .

So my answer to you is I don't know??? Hows that... .

I personally think, with what I understand that the only thing that needs to be added to the truck is the dash switch and that the software and wiring is in the truck like 90% of the trailer tow package.....

Here's a couple 6. 7 C&C window stickers I've run across that actually "say" Diesel Exhaust Brake. One is a no-charge but claims an "MSRP Value $495", while the other one is a line-item charge of $495. The first one may have the brake included within some option package because the 2nd C&C had less options.

I remember reading about the '07 trucks and the new 6. 7 motor before they were introduced to the public. The article said the brake components would be installed at the factory, but the buyer would have to pay extra for the controls to operate the brake if he wanted that feature. You might check with the dealer to see if this is the case. As I remember, the up-charge for the controls was not a lot. JH

I was under the impression that the new turbo (VGT) is been used as the exhaust brake. The controls to operate it as such are were the extra cost is incurred when ordering. Just something I remember reading but can't remember where:(

The early production units were shipped with out brake controls. We were told a kit would be available to add on. It has not happened yet. The later 6. 7s were shipped complete with brakes. The autos I have driven will stay locked down to about 15mph. They work very well from what I could tell on empty trucks, haven't driven one towing yet.
