I'm getting ready to install an exhaust brake on my 2002 quadcab with the 6 speed. I'd like to put the on/off switch on the shift stalk, and I'd like it to be a 'pull on - push off' type switch -- I don't want a toggle or lever-type switch. I've checked a number of automotive and electrical web sites and catalogs with no success. Has anyone done this ? And if so, what switch did you use & where did you get it?

Thanks,

Steve

Call Piers!

Fast, Piers sells the two-speed switch that you are looking for. He also has a trick alum bracket to mount it to the stick.

switch

Any auto parts store should have a 2-speed axle switch. And then you can answer the question, "Do you really have a 2 speed axle in this thing?"

I have one from BD that I bought for my 01. 5, but never installed. I'll let it go for $30 + shipping if I can find it. PM me if interested.

I got the Cummins brand switch that comes with the Jacobs brake for the 03-04.

I ordered it thru Cummins Northwest in Anchorage.

It is far better quality than any of the others I have seen, especially the two speed axle switch sold by NAPA and others.

I used the switch Pac-Brake gave me & mounted it under the steering column on the right side... Had it for years. Have no gripes about it. You can always put another switch somewhere else afterwords, just set up the connections now.

Thanks to all you that responded. :) I'll probably go with the BD setup -- but I have some new ideas to think about.

Besides, what can POSSIBLY go wrong?

Thanks again

Brake Switch

I used the NAPA switch for a two speed rear end. It comes with a rubber boot cover and can be set for either pull on or pull off. It does have a big red nob though that doesn't really match the interior of our trucks. Be sure to get the crimp on connectors for it. It has round hole type connections much like they use on motorcycles.

I ran the wire through black heat shrink tubing and down through the rubber boot and up under the dash.

Mounted the switch with two of those aircraft tubing clamps.

Very neat installation and only cost about twenty dollars.

It works for me!!!!!!!
