What's the story with the Exhaust Brake usage. Have it on all the time or not?? I'm keep reading conflicting things. can it hurt the clutch, transmission

I run with mine on all the time. I have never heard of any downside to always using it. 81k miles and the brakes still have 3/4 pad.

I use mine all of the time. 15k and no problems so far. Besides slowing the truck down nicely, it scares the hell out of the tailgaters.

hahhh rrnut-2! i do that alll the time! hahh

I run heavy, my truck is used for service calls. Usually 9500lbs all the time. I -always- run my exh brake, and still have the original pads at 29kmiles. I use the speed shifter on the gear selector to slow down on hills. .

I like the tow/haul mode for uphills, but downhills can really wack the drivetrain when the exh brake is on. . Anyone know any mods to stop this?

tnx

I would useit allthe time. That way you know it will work, rather than "think it will work. It also helps that you know the way thetruck responds and can deal with an "Emergency".
Better to know what is going to happen instead of switching it on and having it stuck in the off or "on" position when you need.

I have used it every day since putting it on my truck.

Have fun.
