I installed my own Pacbrake, the most difficult part was identifying the appropriate pin to tap into the ECM.

I would definitely install the Pacbrake in 3 steps. hook up the Pacbrake exhaust brake to the turbo, then the vacuum pump, then all the wiring.

If you do it in 3 little steps, it's alot easier.

As a guy who has sold a lot of these. . let me add the following...

Engine brakes got their bad name from exhaust systems there were un-muffled or had bad mufflers... . current design systems don't make a lot of noise... engine brakes or exhaust brakes... .

When an engine brake is installed the head has to be configured to accept the kit... . what the kit does is put like a hydralic lifter in the exhaust valve circuit and the engine brake uses oil pressure to either let the valve function normally or will allow the valve to close and pop open at specific times to allow for the power to be absorbed... . The 5. 9 in the current design just doesn't have the head space to do this... thus the exhaust brake. .

The talk has been around a larger engine for the mid size trucks and the 4500 and 5500... . lets hope that maybe as the engine gets larger this feature is built into the size of the head and engine...

Actually it's a compressor (I know... )

I went with the Pac and now I have a compressor for my airbags, too.

I would never tow heavy without one again. It also helps around town, too. Like MacHaggis said, remember to put your foot on the brake pedal so people know yer slowin down!

Klenger , did you install yours? Also do you have any insight on the brake smart controller, I need a controller and wonder how long to wait.

Yes, I installed the exhaust brake. No big deal, but took me a while to figure out how to install the new belt. I have no idea what's going on with Brake Smart. They have not been delivering for about 6 months now. If you can't wait, I'd get the Jordan 2020. It works well, just not as elegant as the BS.

I just got a price from Cummins on the 06 jake brake. Using the 10% Cummins power masters club discount, it was just over $1000. 00
