I am thinking about putting together a home made twin setup for my truck using my existing hx35/40 hybrid and an ht3b. I want run the waste gated 12 cm housing on the HX 35, and an external waste gate mounted in the exhaust manifold, discharging into the intermediate pipe between the 35 and the HT3b.
My first question is, can I run the waste gate from turbo drive pressure rather than boost pressure? To accomplish this, I would use 3 feet or so of coiled copper tubing directly from the exhaust manifold (to cool the gas going to the waste gate actuator) then transition to rubber to feed the waste gate actuator.
Second question, could I run a normal turbo mount exhaust brake right after my hx-35? I am guessing that with the waste gated being actuated by drive pressure, this would limit my exhaust brake capabilities to what ever I set my waste gates at. What back pressure do normal exhaust brakes run at? Would 20 psi of back pressure be enough to make it worth my while, or do I need higher? I think space would be tight, and that may be reason enough not to try to put in turbo mount E brake.
