i have heard that the only exhaust brake that dodge/cummins will warranty is the Jacobs. i am looking at putting on the Pac Brake PXRB. does any one know if this will void warranty?

The pac brake cannot void your warranty unles it is proven to have been the cause of a problem. The jacobs brake is what chrysler sells & warranties. Too much back pressure could float a valve. Pacs back pressure is set to 60 lbs as is jacobs.

I'm having the Pac brake pxrb installed tuesday. I didn't like the idiea of the vaccum pump or the longer serpentine belt on the jacobs. If the air compressor goes bad it's cheaper to replace plus you have onboard air to run other things like air horns, air bags, or fill tires if you put a big enough tank on.

I'm sure I'll like it. i had a Banks brake on my 01 & miss not having one. Living here in oregon they sure save on the brakes. I drive a tanker haulin 11,600 gals of gas & I wouldnt be without an engine brake either.

By the way, welcome to the board alot of good info & people here.

What will you do if Dodge refuses your warranty because of the Unapproved exaust brake? If it happens are you prepared to pay for a lawyer to fight the problem? Happened to me on a transmission and I decided the lawyer would cost more than the repair.

Exactly what happened with me. Happens the transmission died (850 miles on a Ferd reman) and Ferd stuck it to me. I put another in and traded it in on my CTD with 6 spd and Jacobs installed by the dealer before I took possession. .

Guys...

the pacbrake is the largest selling exhaust brake for the Dodge Cummins... I have 2 dealers that we service that sell more PacBrakes than they do Jacobs... why... because they can sell it for less... and make more profit on it than the Jacobs.....

Between the 2 dealers... they must move 100 to 150 units a year... . I can't share their names or the numbers... I just know that their accessory department likes the PacBrake over the Jacobs unit... .

If you have other questions... send me a email either here... or at -- email address removed --

hey Glenn if you liked the Banks brake how come you are switching to the Pac Brake?

The banks brake was on my 01 that I traded in for the 05 I have now.

Got the brake installed today & had a 200 mile trip home to play with it & everything worked great. Even comes with a air hose & tire chuck to air up tires, connects right at the compressor. Can't wait to hook up to my 12,000 lb 5vr & head over the montain to the lake this summer.

jacqnbill I'm not worried about loosing my warranty. I have a good dealer knows they can't legally void a warranty unless it's proven that the said part caused the damage.
