Help, I am Overheating

Took 5er to TX from MD and Back

Watch the ice!

A word of warning to anyone new to an exhaust brake. With winter coming on, these brakes can send your rear end past your front end on a slippery road. You might want to check this out in a controllable situation so, as with ABS, you know what to expect.

I recently installed the Jacobs from Mopar. It's approved by Cummins and is covered for the 100,000 mile warranty. I purchased mine through www.magauto.com It's a Mopar dealership on the East coast and it cost me about $540. 00. Love it and wouldn't tow without it. :D

E-Brake

I purchased a PacBrake from the dealer. The installation was easy, instructions were good. First trip was to Lake Tahoe. Had a couple 6% eight mile grades that I never needed to use the trailer brakes on. Best thing I've ever put on a vehicle!:) :)

2001 RAM 3500,HO,6 speed, towing a 31ft 5th Wheel.

I was able to purchace my Jake from my dealer for $450. It took about 2. 5 hours to install. On the HO motors, you pull the fuel filter assembly off the motor to get to the ECM. Spill diesel fuel on the VOID sticker on ECM so it comes off with out leaving the void part stuck on. It is well worth the investment if you tow heavy or run empty. :)

e brakes

i'm about to ask a stupid question... ... flamers get ready!! is there any advantage offered to me with a stock engine and stock auto, from the e-brake? would i have to install a lockup switch for the TC? there is some slowing with the transmission downshifted without the e-brake, and the TC unlocked--would that be enhanced? at some time in the future, i suspect a bill k TC and VB will find their way into the transmission, but can't afford them right now. i'm still trying to find the $$$for gauges , which are next. .

Herb,

An exhaust brake is worthless with a stock auto and no way to force the TCC to lock up. Without a lockup method the TCC drops the lock a few seconds after you lift and the engine drops to idle. It works fine if you install a switch to force it to lock up. However, if you don't use it right you can mess up your TC big time. DC will void your trans warranty if they find this switch on your rig.

With all that said I would not be without the lock up switch on my '95. It's wired so that I can also force the TCC to be unlocked if I want. This prevents the engine from tearing up the TCC on a hard pull with the TCC locked which can happen even with a stock setup up if the engine has had the power increased. DTT sells a smart controller to take care of all this automatically. So get hold of them and see what they say.

joe:

thanx for answering me. that is what i thought. actually, bill k answered all my questions on another thread in response to someone else. dc wouldn't guarantee the transmission anyway, if the dtt tc and vb were installed. i guess we will always be our own garantor when we venture into the BOMB field... ... ... .
