Ok, everybody is talking about Exhuast brakes, i am familiar with ENGINE brakes, but not exhaust brakes. I know how it works and i know it bolts to the turbo outlet. What i dont know is how are you activating it?(Switch?) and how often? (can you use it all the time, every time you stop? even if you are not hauling anything?) and lastly, can i put one in my truck? (I have a 2001 AUTO 4x4).
I DO NOT want to void the warranty so if the ONLY reliable way to use one in an automatic Ram is to change the TQ and Valve body, i will probably not do it. If i DONT have to change any of that stuff, what do i do, just bolt in the E brake and thats it? any help would be appreciated.

EMD... on an auto, unless you do other things, the exhaust brakes are fairly useless.
In fact, it is also hard on your transmission according to Dodge. About a year or so ago, dodge had Cummins "buy back" a bunch of the e brakes that were sold to auto transmission guys.

To activate the E Brake, you turn on a switch(on the dash or the BD switch on the shifter) and then the ecm will automatically activate the brake 1 1/2 seconds after you let off of the throttle.

Do a search, there was a couple of good threads on it.

Emddiesel adding an e-brake to your auto does viod your warranty on your transmission & tc. Has Rob said mopar bought back e-brakes on the autos for a full refund including labour.

Thanks for the info guys, ill just wait for my warranty to expire then ill add one along with the transmission mods. Lets see, only 78,000 miles to go!

Good question, i will have to check my warranty book tommorow. Myabe ill be getting that Exhaust brake sooner then i thought.
