Exhaust/CAI question

If my 5.9 24v has a muffler/cat delete but stock air intake is this problematic in any way? Had a guy tell me that makes my truck run a little rich and its not burning all the fuel my FASS 95 is delivering. He says this causes buildup on piston heads etc and I really need a cold air intake.
Does anyone here agree? I've read the stock air intake is good to 450hp but unsure as to whether my FASS 95 and 4" straight pipe exhaust are anyhow negatively affecting things?
Truck is otherwise stock with no other mods.

That guy needs to learn a lot about diesels.

Diesels vary their fuel ratio constantly, unlike gasoline engines.

Yeah, the only problem have is advice form people that THINK they know what they are talking about. Without tuning you won't see a difference with a CAI.

Just as an Information, the FASS doesn't feed the Engine, it only delivers fuel to the VP44 that does feed the Engine, every fuel in excess goes back to the Tank.

Feeds the CP3 in my truck actually, but yes I get your point. Didn't mean to imply otherwise.
