I love my mufflerless stacks, however, every now and then i would like a little less noise. Straight stacks are very loud, in fact they vibrate the back seat and rattle things in the interior at certain rpm's. But you gotta love em!
I am looking into some sort of exhaust valve that can divert the exhaust into the stacks in one position, then in the other position through a muffler and out the rear. I have seen this type of setup on cigerette boats. I belive they call it silent choice. The boats use an electric switch to change the position of the valve. Problem is that these boats inject cooling water into the exhaust and therefore the the diverter valve they use does not have to be able to wistand heat like it would in the exhaust of a truck. Does anybody know of any product out there that might fit my application? I have not had any luck myself so I am starting to think I might have to custom build something.
Kevin.
PS: I saw a cable activated diverter in JC Whitney several years ago but I think it was only for 2 1/2'' pipe.
