Do the MBRP exhausts have any drone in the cab at cruise?

I've been shopping around. I don't know whether to get a Donaldson, MBRP, or the Rokktech. I definitely don't want any remote hint of drone. I guess I'll scratch MBRP off the list...

you can put a resonator on it before the muffler, and that would probably knock down the drone, they are pretty cheap

I have a MBRP turbo back system on my 03... . and I love it. I do get some drone under a VERY heavy load, or when I'm driving over 75MPH. Otherwise, I have no drone, just a sweet sound that everyone notices (Big Smiles), lower EGT's and a little more power! Go for it..... All the cool kids are doing it! LOL.

I guess everyone has different levels of tolerance. I couldn't stand the noise of my MBRP exhaust with a resonator in front of the muffler. The drone would rattle my eardrums at 2000rpm. Now I'm using the MBRP muffler in front of a Rok-Tech. It still has a throaty roar without drone, lower EGT's, and 4" from the turbo to the tip.

The dual 4inch drones real bad without a cat. The mufler and no kitty make the truck sound like a ricer.

I added a 4inch donaldson and stuck it up as far ahead as possible. From memory my donaldson is about 42inch long. This tamed the noise to a reasonable level but not completly drone free.

Same here. I have the MBRP replacement muffler with the stock cat in place, and it's really loud. Forget conversations while driving (which is good on a few occasions :-{} ).



I wish I would have kept the stock muffler, since I barely noticed any performance improvement by changing it.



When I was replacing it, my girlfriend asked why I was replacing a muffler on a relatively new truck. I explained it was for better performance (hopefully).

On the next day to work, she asked - rather loudly - "WHY DID YOU REPLACE THE MUFFLER?"



... . I could only answer, "I don't know. "

The 06 model already has a lot of sound deadening materials used. Sure, I could install more, but there is a point of diminishing return. I've lined many vehicles with thousands of dollars of Dynamat in each (courtesy of Dynamat), so I'm very familiar with what it can do.



Regarding the recommended resonator to put in front of the MBRP muffler: what brand/model?

I was looking into a corsa exhaust systerm for my 04, they guarantee no drone or resonance in the cab, they also have sound clips on they're website that sound alright. I'll warn you tho they're systems were very pricy for our trucks, i can't remember what my quote was, but i know i choked when i heard it.

i must be deaf because i have no drone on my mbrp muffler and no cat. it sounds stock unless you floor it. and if you dont have the passenger side window open i can hear feathers fall on a pillow. with the window open it sounds nice though. i was looking for something that sounds nice, but on the highway wouldn't be annoying and the mbrp with no cat worked out perfectly for my in my own opinion

My AFE muffler has no drone at any rpm or mph, no cat in the system and sounds real good at idle and getting on the gas, at hgwy speeds 65-75 mph i can hear the radio at level 13 ac on windows closed. Great acceleration.

By the way, don't get me wrong. I really do like the sound of the MBRP muffler, especially near walls or tunnels with the windows down. It's just really loud when talking with a passenger, listening to the news, or talking on the phone (Bluetooth headpiece!).



I used to be able to go through drive-thru restaurants, but not with this muffler.

I am looking at the cool duals but what no drone. How is it possible that some have drone and some do not on the same set up???? I do not want to spend money to find out I have the drone and have to go out buy a new muffler for the muffler that is already there. #@$%!

I can't go through drive-thrus stock. Shutdown everytime. Now I just don't go. My version of Jenny Craig. :-laf

does the '06 have more than other years? because you're obviously familiar with the fact that a penny pinching company like Dodge doesn't really use much sound deadener.



I run 5" straight exhaust with a 6" tailpipe on my truck, and when I first installed it, it would talk to you pretty good. I added 130 sqft of Raam mat, and now it's very livable... no problems, and I'm very sensitive to resonance (my wife had no problems w/ the stacks in my single cab 97, they KILLED me!!!)

how quiet do you guys want your truck? i dont understand the issue. like i said i have the mbrp with no cat, and with the windows up its very very close sounding to stock almost too quiet in my opinion. i would say my stock turbo drowns out the sound of my exhaust. you guys have the same setups and are talking about how loud they are. i must have got a defective muffler from mbrp because i must have the only one sold that is quiet

different people are more sensitive to sound than others... the current owner of my old single cab 97 loves the stacks, and he has no problems w/ them. I loved 'em, but they KILLED my ears on road trips...



it's just different strokes... if you want it quiet, I say do sound deadener FIRST because it cuts down on road noise and makes the stereo sound better... if that's not enough, run a 51" big truck muffler and be done w/ it
