Has anyone considered retaining but gutting the DPF if you decide remove it? If the gutted, hated device remained in place it might slip past some very basic forms of emission equipment inspections.

Harvey,

This is from another web site that another user has provided on two different type of deletes. One is the full blown delete and the other is for Calf. type Stealth Delete.

Any one interested can log one and read plus review the photos that are provided.

Smarty, H&S programmer, there are plenty of options for deleting the EGR and DPF - not only will you pick up fuel mileage (I gained somewhere around 5-7mpg) but you can run the better older oils. Plus if you disable/delete the EGR, you won't be pumping soot into your engine and you should expect much longer life before a rebuild - however if you're at 320k without a major overhaul, you're doing pretty good for an EPA engine. The EGR Duramax engines apparently are only expected to make it 150k before a rebuild.

EB, Do you have some kind of programmer to take care of the codes/CEL?

No, I have the codes written down and check them from time to time to see if I have any new ones. It really hasn't changed in almost 200,000 miles. The cel is covered by black electrical tape.
