I just installed a mrbp exhaust system today on my 96 ram long bed club cab.
I have a question for you guys. Do any of you have a stock hanger just before the rear axle. I do not. But the kit instructions show that a hanger goes there just after the muffler. Now from the down pipe there is the first one in the transmission then the next one is before the muffler. That has two steel arms that go different directions. Then the next one is just after the muffler but seems to soon to me. This is the one I'm missing or its for a different model/year truck. The last hanger is after the axle and requires the mrbp hanger kit that I've ordered. So I just need to know if my truck is supposed to have a second hanger after the transmission mount or just one. (Not including the one at the rear after the axle)
thanks!

Mine has one and I'm pretty sure the '96 and '97 would be the same. It is high, near the bed, on the same bracket the shock is attached to. There is a steel arm that an oval rubber hanger attaches to.

Ok thanks! That helps a lot. I didn't see anything yesterday up in that area but I'll look again. My new exhaust hanger for that location has two metal arms off the clamp.

I have a MBRP also, but it has been installed for several years so the design may have changed. The only clamp I have with metal arms is installed just forward of the muffler. The bracket near the rear axle has an arm that is welded to the pipe.

Yes I have those two hangers also but there is another one after the muffler before the axle - don't see a stock location to attach to until you mentioned the piece attached to the shock absorber/bed. Unless your talking about the next hanger that is welded direct to the pipe.
Im also a little concerned about the down pipe just after the turbo --it touches the firewall shielding. I'm thinking it can handle it but don't want a fire.

Yes, the hanger behind the muffler, forward of the axle is welded to the pipe. I only have one clamp with hangers attached and it is on the front of the muffler. I ditched the stock insulation fiberglass mat on the firewall years ago and installed a layer of soundproofing covered with a layer of thermal reflective mat. Yes, the downpipe is real close. I don't know how people get 5" exhausts to fit. Here is the link. It really pisses me off that the old thread pictures have been deleted. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/threads/228674-Firewall-insulation?highlight=firewall

Ok so I have a different hanger then that is after the muffler. I also have the one you mention before the muffler and another on the tail piece that will hang from the mbrp exhaust hanger after the axle. So I must have a different model exhaust than you. I might call the company tomorrow. Thanks games.
