Check sig for truck specs. I'm looking into maybe buying an exhaust housing for this truck. What should I look for? 16cm or 18cm? Do they normally come with a 4" outlet, meaning I have to replace my exhaust, too? Wastegated or not? What sort of power and EGT gains can I expect? How difficult is the install? What are some potential problems I'll run into?

Thanks!

First thing, I'd rule out the 18cm housing. With your config, I'd only consider the 14 or 16cm2 housing. I really like my 16cm2 housing, picked up a small amount of turbo lag, but, I'm running 4. 10 gears and a standard and can live with it, no problem. The 150degs. or so drop in EGT was welcome.

In your shoes, I'd check with Piers on a 14cm non-wastgated housing, he'll be able to advise you on what'll work best.

The outlet is the same size as your stock housing, you need to move the exhaust forward about 1 1/2", since you loose the wastegate with the new housing.

I accomplished this by using a come-a-long hooked around the back of the muffler and the cross member at the trans, put a good pull on things, then using a ox/acy torch, applied heat to the big support rod that at the front of the exhaust system. This was of course after the new turbo housing was in place.

I'd budget a weekend to the change-out in case you run into any difficulties.

Power gains, TST says about 20 on the top end. Biggest benefit is EGT reduction, allowing more fuel for more power.

Only likely problem is splitting the old housing off the turbo, a search on the 12V and 1 gen forums will yeild lots of info on this.

Good luck, Ronnie
