Exhaust housing???

how does an exhaust housing lower EGT's? I guess I need some basic turbo schooling.

It flows more air and has less restriction. IMO

Which means the quicker the hat gasses get away from the engine and turbo, the lower your EGT's will be.

Does the housing house anything or is it hollow?

The "Housing" is the exhaust side of the Turbocharger. Where the exhaust turbine is.
