Anyone have an idea on the labor cost? Not something I really want to tackle myself.

Turns out I have an oil leak in one of the gaskets... #@$%!

You shouldn't have oil leaking from an ex manifold gasket. I occasionally will get a little oil there if I've been riding the exhaust brake hard but in general, you shouldn't have oil there.

To answer your question, I put a set in a 98 12 valve a couple months ago, took little over an hour.

I agree with the statement above. No logical reason for oil to "leak" around an exhaust gasket.

If member Scott above can change the exhaust manifold gasket in one hour I would estimate a shop or dealer will charge you two to three hours of labor to do it. $200 to $300 for labor and perhaps $50 for the gasket.

It is only 12 bolts, not that hard to DIY. Be sure to have some high temp anti-sieze for bolt installation.

Also note. .

To do one gasket you should do them all as when you get the manifold loose the others usually do not seal properly again.

Thanks. I believe it was optical illusion. Got to looking at it this morning and I believe it was a loose valve cover bolt allowing oil to leak through. What we saw must have been a drip location.

If it was the exhaust manifold I would have bigger issues to worry about.

Stock manifold? watch for shrikage on # 1. If it is shrunk better get a manifold stretcher in order to put it back to gether. Geno's has the gaskets at a reasonable price. But no manifold stretcher.
