Hi,I just got my first CTD last month its a 2001 quadcab/auto/4x4 . I noticed the exaust tip had a ding in it but i did,nt think much of it . I was under it last week and found that it looks like whole system was affected with what ever caused the ding . The hangers barely line up enough to the trucks mounts the muffler hangers don,t line up the previous owner must have backed into something  . Im thinking of replaceing the system and i am trying to find the best bang for the buck. My truck is stock and i don,t have plans for mods exept gauges mabey more some day. Im trying to find a system that dose,nt add alot of cab noise i have been looking a 4 inch aluminised steel systems . thanks for reading this site kicks butt :D

i just ordered a Hog Performance exhaust for my '02. i should get it by wed. i will post some pics of it when i get it installed.

Jeg's

I have been looking at Exhaust systems also and I have found a good deal through Jegs. 4" Aluminized Steel, turbo back with "clog-free" diesel muffler (whatever that means) with stock hangers for $299. 99. Haven't ordered mine yet but will soon. Part #555-30445 Ph# 1-800-245-4545 or jegs.com

I just installed a Magnaflow stainless exhaust on my stock 98. 5 and it performs great. I also put on a K&N RE0880 air filter and it works great as well. I dynoed 201 RWHP and after the air filter and exhaust I dynoed 217 RWHP and 468 lb/ft of torque. It's not a huge increase but quite impressive for a stock truck. It is also very noticeable while driving.

Now how do I talk the wife into a comp box and new injectors?

Chris Ward.

P. S. If you need answers call Piers Diesel,Those guys know there stuff.

Got a good deal from RPM Outlet (http://www.rpmoutlet.com/diadodge.htm)

(Option C: Full Flow Kit (94-02 only) Features:

Magnum Force AFE Air Induction System

-OR- AEM BRUTE FORCE Air Intake System

MOTOBLUE™ 4-inch Turbo-Back Exhaust (auminized)

Part# RPM590013 $ 424. 95*

I checked several other location and this price beat anyones combos or what I could piece together myself by $80. 00, sounds good to. If you are not caught up in brand name this is a good deal.

Darn I wish I would of known of that place sooner. That looks like a killer deal!!

My system coming is a MRPB T 409 that was around 600 after shipping.

mrpb t409 cool duals on mine easy install but have to do something with muffler, lot loud enough wife wants loud :D

Hi, and welcome to the CTD world!

You have many options to choose from, so from that standpoint it's all good. You don't plan on doing much to the truck so stock or a 4" system is fine. The reader before mentioned Hog Performance, I also run their exhaust system and yes it is made of the best matterials arround, 304 stainless steel is used through out the system. The hangers, bolts. clamps are all SS, and the huge muffler is polish to a mirror shine. This is a very good system, and I would call it the TOP of the line in exhaust systems for the CTD. You may or may not want to invest that much in your trucks exhaust system? If so fine they go for around 600-650, which is cheap for the best. Other options would be to go with a 4" aluminized or standard tubing system. Some of the best prices can be found at Summit Racing or Jeggs, they are both very large mail order performance shops that handle diesel truck performance parts. Summit has 4" systems as low as 299. 99 and SS 4" systems for 499. 95, all made to fit your truck. Jeggs has simular systems at simular prices, both are great to order from, and I frequently use them both.

Be prepared for a louder truck, the cheaper and sometimes thiner (tubing) systems allow more noise to transfer to the cab. Also most people that go to a larger free flowing exhaust experiance what is known as DRONE. It's a spot in the RPM range, normally around 2000 prm, that creates a vibration/hum/echo/noise that is much louder then at any other place along the RPM path. This noise can range from mild to down right anoying, especialy it you have a large load or are towing a heavy trailer. I worked thru it, by adding insulation to the cab and installing vibration/heat sheilds along the exhaust system path. The larger exhaust will help reduce EGT's and add's a "performance" sound to the truck. Look around and fine the system that is right for you and your pocket book, good luck.

muffler dia

The MOTOBLUE (and others) come with a 4" muffler.

Are these straight-thru mufflers? Do they help with drone? What about the general exhaust note? Do they offer an additional resistance.

Thanks for the good info ,I am taking a likeing to that ss magnaflow system that the RPM OUTLET sells . Am i reading that right it said $382. 95 it sounds cheap for a ss system? I am hoping to not have drone at crusing speed my 94 Bronco has a 3 inch cat back system on it with a flowmaster muffler. I can,t remember what sieries it is but its only loud at lower rpm,s at cruising it sounds great it does,nt over power the cab on road trips.

The muffler looks like the Diamond Eye from Source Automotive. Go to here and scroll down to the 4" Diamond Eye and they show a picture of their muffler from the end:http://www.protintnw.com/sa_dodge-exh.htm. I do not hear much from the system inside the cab unless I lug at low RPM's then there is a low growl. Once I'm above lugging it is quiet in the cab. Outside it is fairly loud, specially if you put the

pedal to the metal. Have not had the truck above 90 since I put it on, waiting for my guages that I ordered a week before the exhaust, the guages just arrived, now waiting on my Rod Pod. But at 90 you can hear it a little more in the cab. On the highway crusing at 70 it sounds like the stock, unless you stomp on it, then you hear it.

After i get this exaust system out of the way i whant get some gauges. I was thinking fuel presure/egt/boost and trans temp$$$$ . I spent over $800. 00 on tires two weeks ago my Michlens were dry rotted and i did,nt whant to take a chance of a blow out (hapened to my boat trailer twice) . I could have spent that on gauges  oh well . I have learned my lessen on this perchase, I should have spent more to looking through this truck before i bought it . I might have been able to haggle the price down a little and save some money. When i saw it in person i was so exited and the way trucks go around here i jumped on it i figured if i don,t buy it now its going to be gone it was just put out on adds that morning. 2001 QC longbed 4x4 leather all options spray in liner rear air bags 39,000 miles on it. Got a little caried away but i love this truck after this i would like to go out back and plant me a money tree does any body know were i can get the seeds :-laf
