Bro-law put a BD dual exhaust kit on his 2003 Auto DRW/quadcab 4x4 a while back(don't know if this is a "REBADGED MBRP under BD NAME"), this thing has droan really bad. Most people who ride in the back of the quadcab get out with a headache after about 1/2 hour of riding:{:{:{. What are the cures or fix that other have done to get rid of the droan. I have read a bit about exhaust thought the "search feature"and still don't have a definite fix----new Donaldson muffler,or resonator. Just looking for what works cause my 2007Mega DRW 5. 9 is in need of a Cool-Dual exhaust in the spring and i sure don't want any droan. Suggestions please and what works on these dually"s----THANKYOU DW----PS part #'s would work /be great appreciated.

I am not sure what sound you are looking for but as you probably already know you will always have a droan with a throaty exhaust system such as MBRP, Magnaflow etc. The only thing i found that does not have a droan is a huge muffler, but then you loose that muscle sound. I tryed everything including adding a resonator to my MBRP system. When i added the resonator it brought the droan down about 50% but it didn't sound the same. It's either loud with a droan or quiet without the droan. The one thing that i did find during my experiments is that the length of your tail pipe after the muffler will change the RPM where the droan will be herd the most. I had every exhaust configuration possible and if i remember correctly with a full tailpipe my droan on the highway was around 1900 rpm. When i cut the tail pipe and made a side exit exhaust the droan appeared to be the loudest around 2100rpm. I may have that backwords but i know for sure that it did change. I now have a stack and i did not experiment with the stack. When i installed it i immediately installed a humongosorous Donaldson muffler and the drone has been on vacation ever since. It isn't as loud or throaty any more, but my three kids and wife appreciate the 7 hour weekend trips more now. It all depends on what you are using the truck for and what you are looking for. I really don't think that you can have both the sound and no drone. I could be wrong, its happened once before.

My boss doesn't like straight piped or loud trucks anymore (it was cool back when we were dating in university). This time I put on the 4" donaldson. The actual muffler is 4ft long. It has a different sound than stock but quiet in the cab. It was $139 at a heavy truck shop. I just cut the brackets off my old muffler and welded them onto the new one and everything is fine. My brother in law has dual exhaust on his '06 but it is cat back and doesn't sound too loud. My '03 doesn't have a kitty.

My 5 inch Magnaflow was real droney at first, but after 20,000km it quit. I am thinking all that soot coated the inside of the exhaust? But I am not the only one to notice my friends have commented on it to. If I were to do it again I would get a cat back system that should be quiter, but not hurt performance much.
