Looking for new exhaust for my 04 quadcab, long bed, 4wd.

I do a fair amount of towing. I am not looking for anymore power and I don't want to be blown out by noise or a drone. especailly while towing.

The only reason I'm looking for a new exhaust is the tailpipe broke off the muffler and the dealer want $275 just for a muffler.

So I was thinking about replacing the whole system. My truck has no cat.

anyone who tows with a suggestion and a decent exhaust that's not loud.

Thanks,

Nick

Silverline is a pretty good system and they can be had for a good price. Check Geno garage and Summit racing, they both have decent systems. Or just buy a new Donaldson from Napa and a tailpipe. That might be the cheapest and easiest solution. Scotty

Thanks, I had actually been looking at the Sliverline from Geno's.

Looks like a pretty decent price for an exhaust system.

I'm just really surprised the stock one fell apart already.

Early '04 or '04. 5? If former, you have 3. 5" until the tailpipe... worth replacing the whole enchilada with a full 4". If the latter, then you already have (had) :{ a full 4". Just making sure so you can sort out your choices.

IMO, if it broke in one spot (probably rust), I would definately use this as an opportunity to upgrade to a new, quality turbo back 4 in. syst. Maybe S. S. for longer life in your neck of the woods.

Today I will order a "Silverline" system from, ETR diesel performance at ETRDP.com. I called and talked to "Jeff" and got a price of $439. 99 plus $25 shipping. I gave GENOS a chance to meet the price but they declined. Give Jeff a call at 800-521-3187. I have a 04. 5 exhaust cast elbow and will buy the kit for that year truck which will give my 03 a 4" turbo back system.

The Summit racing kits are nice (polished 304 stainless), but VERY LOUD... too loud to tow any distance with...

I took the Summit kit, and replaced the muff with a 30" MagnaFlow... its perfect for my needs.

You might want to make sure your new exhaust has a resonator in addition to the muffler. My exhaust shop talked me out of a resonator, and I regret it. The resonator is about reducing drone. It doesn't make the exhaust quieter, doesn't reduce power. It just breaks up the harmonics, much the same as uneven lug spacing on (good) mud tires.

This is important for towing because you often find yourself holding a steady RPM under load. My drone zone is between 2100 and 2400 rpm. When pulling a long grade, that exactly where I need to be.

I'm thinking I'll go with the silverline and if I have an issue, I can add a resonator at a later time.

I have a lift in my garage so I'll be installing the exhaust myself. Not a huge deal to put it back up again and add a resonator.
