I am looking into doing an exhaust upgrade however I am not looking for a loud truck either, does anyone have the exhaust system from source auto and if so how does it sound??? My last truck was a 1995 with a flow thru muffler and you could not even hear you self think, it sounded sweet but was to loud. Thanks for any help.

The Banks 5" on a 2005 will produce a noise in the cab that resembles a 400 pound bee when loaded, a 5" resonator about halfway between the Turbo and the Muffler will stop that and back the noise level in the cab lower. Also watch the exhaust tip keep it down as much as poss. This helps also.

68 views and only two people have changed their exhaust, that should be a topic all in its own. I thought this site was about sharing information and different mods, I guess in dodge country only 2 people have changed their exhaust.

Its sunday, most of us are out in the yard or driveway working on our trucks, you will get some more info tonight.

I just put in AFE stage II and looking to change muffler also. I have a areo turbine sitting in the garage that I never put in my 03. I might try that.

exhaust

I have a 05 with a Banks cat back system no noise.

My only concern would be if you live where road salt is used

you pick one of the 304 systems. The 400 series rust.

I'm looking for a different exhaust system too. I've got nothing but the kitty and turnout to kinda silence it. I lost the extension pipe I had so now its too damn loud. Plus the fact that there isn't much support for the weight of the kitty. I've heard about using the donaldson 51 where it takes up the kitty space and ends pretty much where the old muffler did. I just haven't heard enough about it yet to go that route.

I'd like to get rid of the kitty and keep the truck sounding mean, but without too much noise in the cab. The best of both worlds n all. If I could get my 05 to sound as close to a straight piped 2nd gen as the old CR can.

Do what I did. Take the big thing in the front off and take the muffler and cut a 3 sided square hole in between the weld marks . Take out the insides and weld it back together. Cost 20. 00 at the local muffler shop. Sound? Pretty good no real cab noise and when you get on the go pedal you know it!

MBRP Muffler works great,I have had mine on for 20,000 miles. Nice rumble when you get into it,otherwise sounds stock at highway speeds. Lowered my egt's 50 degrees and this one has no drone at all.

Edgeman or Craig, Where do you purchase the MBRP and do they also sell something to replace the kitty if it got lost??? I also need to ask a stupid question, how do you know if you have a 2004 or a 2004. 5????? Thanks

Hey Fire,

What people mean by the 04. 5' is that it is the 325hp/600 ft. lb. torque motor. Not all 2004 trucks were. 2003 trucks were 305hp/555 ft. lb. in most states. In Cali. the motors were 235hp/460 ft. lbs. Big difference!!!!!!

The "600" motor came out mid-year 04' as a 50-state engine.
