There is lots of info available in the TDR world documenting the ACTUAL benefits of 3" vs 4" exhaust on 360 cubic inches turning less than 3000 rpm. The last I remember was a Joe Donelly report in late '03 - dyno test on a 380 hp engine with a stock exhaust. A 4" system produced a whopping 7 hp! Puts the investment in the same category as K&N-like airfilters.
Yeah, I was a non-believer and just had to have 4" on my 2nd gen. Zero to 60 suffered with my DTT mods due to spoolup lag, and the dreaded drone was too much noise. A mandel bent 3" system similar to a bracket racer restored the peace and quiet and off-idle throttle response. $ was much better left in the bank, IMHO.
