Exhaust questions for '04.5

I have finally decided I want a louder exhaust on my 04. 5... I have been thinking that If I went and lost the cat and muffler, and added an Aeroturbine I would have a pretty mean sounding truck... for a third gen.



Is that the best plan? To simply keep my stock 4" exhaust and cut and delete, then add a piece of 4" where the muffler was and install the Aeroturbine where the cat was?



I really am no wild about buying a 600 dollar bolt up exhaust... I already have 4" turbo back so i shouldn't need one of those setups right?



I have been slow with upgrading this truck because I have liked it so much stock, but I am starting to want a little more 2nd gen clatter and a little more pickup...



I was thinking this and an AFE would hold me until I run out of warranty...

I am in the same boat. I was/am thinking about doing the exact mods you are talking about. Just about to make the same post as you so I will anxiously wait and read the responses.

If you are looking at getting more turbo whine in addition to exhaust grumble take out the baffles in the intake tube and remove the silencer ring on the turbo. Sounds nice.

I'm with you fellas, don't want to buy a complete exhaust system, just want to replace the muffler. I'm not messing with the cat though, a few guys on this board have removed theirs and said they have seen no noticable improvement in power or economy. Does anybody know if there is an Aeroturbine that will clamp right in place of my stock muffler? Also, any info on the AFE intake for the 04½? I read somewhere that the 04 model intake won't work on the 04½ without modification. Thanks

I just took mine to a local muffler shop and got a 4" magnaflow muffler put in and 4" cat delete pipe in place installed was $280 (the muffler was about 150!) performance up, EGT's down, and truck sounds Awesome with little in cab drone! It sounded good stock but with the TST turned up IT WILL REALLY TURN SOME HEADS IN TOWN! DO IT YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED.

Yes aeroturbine does make a 4" inlet and out let. You might have to add some pipe though it may not be as long as your stock muffler.

So you like your magnaflow? I just ordered one from the local exhaust shop... he quoted me just about the smae as you paid to have the work done. How loud is yours? You are satisfied with it driving down the highway? If you had to do it again would you axe the cat too?



Has anybody else heard about Dodge cancelling warranties if the cat is removed? I want to kill mine before it becomes a problem, but I don't want to void warranty stuff.
