I have an '03 and am wanting to get dual stacks put on. I live in Eastern Nebraska and am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction as to who does them. I am willing to travel to get them. If any one has a sound clip I could hear, that would be great!

Chris

Rob Thomas used to sell a kit to put stacks in, I am not sure if he still does though. I don't have a sound clip but it does sound good IMHO

Do you have a phone # for Rob Thomas. I'm sure they sound good. Do you know if the stacks drone at all in the cab when pulling anything. I pull a 5K trailer everyday and no sure how much drone I will get in my cab (being a regular cab).

i made my own with a 5" square stainless box and put 4" aluminized going out the bottom to a 4" elbow with 4" flexpipe slipped over the stock exhaustand the muffler removed. Out the top of the box is 5" galvanized cut and rewelded for the 5" stacks to slip over, it is tight enough that a clamp was not needed for the stacks. Go to a local big truck store and buy the piping. i'm trying to get some pics in my reader file. There is no drone till you get above 2k rpm but when that happens i'm running over 80 so it's not a big deal to me.

Here ya are:

BTW - I can hear the excuse to my wife now:

tom: "BUT EVERYONE ON TDR IS DOING IT!!!!!"

it's a quad cab sounds not too loud unless it is over 2k rpm by 2200 it's getting loud. a muffler inline would probably take care of it i'm not running one.

Thanks kevin, I am going to talk to a big rig shop near by and see what they can supply me with for pipes or maybe they can even install them for me. Thanks again everyone!

Why eat up your bed with that ulgy box,do them like mine and they will look better and not ruin the bed space. Pm me and I will tell you how much I will sell them for.

Thanks Tomeygun! Is the truck in the picture a standard cab or quad? If standard, how's the sound when driving?

I got a reg cab w/ 6" stacks. There turnouts and are about 6" above the cab. Inside w/ the windows closed it's not bad at all. It is quieter inside than my dads with the 6" mieter's that are set-up the same as Tommygun's. Pops has a 4 door too.

Why put your life in danger with a design that could easily melt the fuel tank. i know the stacks are too hot to touch after a few minutes of cool down. Do you have several inches of insulation between your pipes and tank? Also if you put an aftermarket fuel pump on where did you locate that? Besides that box won't be damaged by anything you could put in the bed anyways.

6 Cylinder = Single Stack

This ought to get me thrown out of the forum... :p

I think forcing a two stack look on a 6-cylinder diesel just does not seem right. It's just like spliting a single exhaust after the cat to a dual outlet. Looks without function have never been big with me.

Soooooo... . I'd like a nice single stack, on the passenger's side of course. Maybe incorporate a full flow muffler into the base of it and have a turnout to reduce the soot on the trailer. A nice stainless mesh on the lower portion to provide a heat shield for items in the truck bed would look good.

Form and function.

this is how i plan on running mine...

only BLACK!! and i will box in my pass side even with the tool box i have so i dont have to worry abot anything getting lodged in between the box and the pipe.

some thermal wrap to keep the bed from heating up and the box contents... and a clacker... .

i will stay with a single 6 inch tube BUT have an inline mufler IN the pipe... ill stay with 4 inch and some back pressure this way as i will be dropping the kitty as well.

The turbo creates enough backpressure. After the turbo, you want REDUCE restriction, not create more.

All of the ads I've seen for the mufflers in the stack, say dual stacks ONLY.

i'd like to see a price on a system made up by a company. Stylin concepts has some and they are in the 700-800 dollar range.

Well I put 15000 miles on the truck with the stacks, and have been at a constant fwy speed for over 5hrs and went under the truck to see how hot the tank and pipe was and to my suprise it was cool!I made a heat shield for it but never put it on after that. Their is about 3" or so above the tank to the pipe. don't forget about the airflow under the truck. Sure the box won't get damaged but you will not get a 4x8 sheet in it either.
