Hi guys,

Took trailer to Canada and truck started to develop a deep roar in a hill. Thought pipe might have loosened up just beyond the engine brake but no, when I crawled under the truck I found the inlet of the muffler is snapped clean off... ... ... ... ... ... . :{:{

Had hoped the exhaust would last a little longer but now it's a an issue I would like to hear what some of you have picked for replacement systems.

I setting here with Geno's Catalog 68 trying to pick something out so let me hear what you guys have bought that didn't blow the budget or be so loud towing that you couldn't hear yourself think. :D

The best muffler I ever heard on a Cummins is the Bassani. One of my friends bought one and is happy with it, it's realativly quiet but still has a nice deep sound it. It's real quite inside the cab.

I am pleased with my Hog Exhaust. It has a nice tone at cruise, but a bit loud under heavy acceleration. I bought a 6" tip -- a smaller one would have been a bit quieter, but I get compliments from others about it all the time. My wife even likes it.

What a timely post this is. I was under the truck recently and noticed my exhaust pipe is just about burned through at the first upward turn after the muffler. So please keep the tips coming. Personally, I would like a very quiet 4" system that flows better than the stocker. Any other ideas?

CDonaldson - Do you get any DRONE when towing? I am really considering the FLO Pro, but seeing mixed reviews. I don't mind the good loud growl of my Cummins, but don't want towing the 5er to be a bad experience... .

Also, CDonaldson - do you have air bags on the rear? I do and I am concerned about being too close to them as well. Any pics of your system around the rear axle so that I can tell if there will be clearance issues?

DZinger . . PM me with your e-mail addy and I will get you some pics. I also have air bags, so you will be able to see how much clearance ther is. My bags are 5 years old, the FloPro 5"TB has been on for a year. I have had NO problems whatsoever.

@ JFought - I have the shield on mine, just looking at pics of others installs, the clearance looks very tight.

I've got an AFE 4" turbo-back, and I've never thought "dang I wish it was quieter".

No real drone, you can barely tell it's running when parked next to an ISB.

Got a MBRP 4" cat back. Not too loud but the drone while towing was pretty bad. Added a second muffler to the system, took some of the bite out but it is still there towing. I'm starting to wonder if it might be a mega cab thing since there is so much room in the back seat for the sound to bounce around. Others with similar set ups have no drone.

WoodChuck - any chance of getting a sound clip? I found a local shop here that can get me a 5" inlet and 5" outlet and wondered how it sounded before I drop the coin on exhaust...
