hi again guys,

this time around i need help deciding what kind of exhaust system would be idealy suited for my application. :D

first off i want a straight piped system.

so to begin with, i'll start with the underneath exhaust systems.

which diameter is better for power/economy, 4 or 5 inch. and which manufacturer has the best system.

next, STACKS Oo. .

how much moding/fabrication has to be done to truck, and exhaust piping, can it be done cheaper than, say a brand name underneath exhaust, what is a good pipe diameter, and how high can the stacks safely exceed the height of the cab.

have lots more questions on the way. ;)

thanks,

Kenneth

Diameter is mostly preference, depending on engine mods. I have 5" on mine, but 4" would do. I got a great deal on the system, so I went for it. Sounds great. Now, with my current mods, the only piece of the system that is on the truck, is the piece that is 4" on one end and 5" on the other. The dp went away with the HX-40, rest came off with the stacks. I had a Big Exhaust 5" system ( www.bigexhaust.com ). I gained about . 5mpg and 50* lower EGTs with it.

If you want stacks, just go that route first. Won't waste money unnecessary parts that way. I'm sure enjoying mine. :D

Cost for stacks. Depends on where you get the parts. Did mine for just under $600, parts only. I put them on myself. Height of stacks is also a preference. Mine are 5" dia. x 4' tall, miter tops. They stick above the cab about a foot or so. Overall height is 96" from the top of the stacks to the ground.
