Last night my factory exhaust system finally gave up the ghost, the tailpipe snapped off taking part of the muffler pipe with it. There's not enough left to bother fixing it so I'm looking for replacement options. Now, here come the questions...

I live in the northeast so raod salt and weather combine to eliminate anything aluminized, those systems are out. When it comes to stainless there seem to be two options t-304 ($$$$$) and t-409 ($$$) for the most part. Now, I really could not care less about how the system under the truck looks as long as it holds up, I'll put a polished tip on it if I want looks but I'll probably pass on that too. Will the cheaper stainless system hold up for a good amount of time? I'm definately leaning toward a 4" system hopefully 4" from turbo back (I've seen a couple with a 3" downpipe into 4") What would you all recommend? The truck is otherwise stock and will probably remain so.

Thanks!

exhausting question

BadDNA,

If you look at the warranty, it tells you a 5 year & a lifetime. Its your choice. I put on the 5 year & its doing great. I had to make an adjustment to the exhaust, to mount new mud flaps from Cummins,:D, the exhaust came apart easy. I made the adjustment inward:cool: .

The exhaust companies wouldn't give you any less than it could handle. Oo.

I think you will be happy with either system. :)

Doing a little more shopping, I think I'm going to go with the 4" 304 system from City Muffler. They offer a pretty good discount when you create a login account on their site and that brings the 304 into reach. That said, this system looks a lot like the MBRP 304 system from the picture they provide, can anyone confirm this? Also found the 304 stainless system from Summit Racing, has anyone used that? Do both of these have a 4" downpipe?

i built my own alumalized exhaust, so far it's holding up. obviously the stainless will resist the rust better, but an alumalized exhaust will hold up for many years providing you're not throwing salt into the tailpipe when you're parked.
