I've read so many post on exhaust and I'm still unsure with what to get. I'm leaning toward DPPI and their MBRP system for a couple of reasons:

1. I want to keep my spare under the truck (4" pipe)

2. Great experience with DDPI

3. From what I've read they're not too loud but they have a nice growl

OK for everyone to throw in you 2 cents here's what I've had in the past. A 94 Ram 1/2 ton reg. cab long bed 4x4 with true duals coming from the 318 threw 2. 5" pipes to 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers out to 3" pipes and exiting threw 3. 5" chrome tips.

I had so many people tell me how loud it was and I loved it. A nice deep rumble at idle and it could set off car alarms when I stepped on it. :-laf That was 6 yrs. ago and I was 18. I only had to drive 10 miles to high school so I didn't have prolonged exposure to the noise very often except for trips up north which then it didn't bother me. Now I have to drive 40 miles to work and I'd like to have those pipes again every once in a while but I really don't miss it too much.

So to get to the point will the MBRP give that growl when I want it but not be as overwhelming as the flowmasters were?

Should I get the race pipe I've read about? (don't remeber quite what it was called but it took place of the cat)

What material 304 or 409?

And finally do you think they will be drone? I never heard it so I don't even know if I'll have it or if it will bother me?

Thanks for advice

I am getting the Aeroturbine kit installed tomorrow, along with the AFE. I am leaving the cat on, just read a post where dealer voided warranty because it was removed. Will let you know how it sounds.

Thanks for the thoughts guys I know the t304 is a better material but is it really needed was more my question.

If anyone has the MBRP pipes how do you like them?

Thanks again

I have them on my 2004. 5 dually the cool dual system from MBRP and I am pleased with the sound I purchased the 403 stainless and added my own exhaust tips I bought the system usdiesel.com and it costed me shipped $560. 00 to Long Island NY MATT 2004. 5 RAM 3500 Silver Dually Laramie 4X4

I love my Areoturbine! Had it for about 19 months and around 62K miles and gotten nothing but compliments and many "Man that thing sounds just like a rig" comments wherever I go. Sound in the cab is very tolerable and yes, It will set off car alarms, especially when the lifted dually is in a parking garage! :D

Have had my Aeroturbine for about 2 weeks. The sound is very nice, very tolerable in the cab. But it did not elininate the drone. Also turbo whine is much louder with the AFE.

TD -

Where is your Areoturbine mounted? when I first got into the Aeroturbine almost 2 years ago Dave @ Diesel Power Products and I did a few experiments with placement and I found that by moving the Aeroturbine from the stock muffler location to the bottom of the downpipe it dropped the drone consiterably, and sounded deeper outside the truck. I guess it had something to do with harmonics and all. Just a thought.

Cat?! I didn't get a cat! I must be one of the lucky ones! :-laf

That just might make the difference in sound. I don't know how the cats on our CTD's work, but that could work for/against you. Too many variables . . . .

I have a 2003 and I don't have a cat either. I bought the truck used, so did the previous owner remove it or did the cats not come on the trucks until a certain year?

Thanks for the reply Mark, I been out of town so now that I finally have a chance to reply. What is the performance replacement muffler you mentioned, and what does it add to the system?

Thanks again

Recently installed a 4"down to a 5" from there back. Works very well and have 1-1. 5" clear of spare which could be made bigger. TST products has it for $455.

It is noisier but I am told by my neighbor it sounds great.

I am interested in knowing how a dealer voided a warranty because of a cat. Those are installed for EPA compliance not performance. Was there any damage to the vehicle? How could there be damage to the engine? I would think that there was another reason they voided a warranty. I specifically read that damage from accessories had to occur for a warranty to be voided.

Interesting!
